Description
Griptonite India is looking for an Animator capable of creating high quality animations and rigging.

ROLE

The Animators role involves creating animations, rigs and working closely with Senior Animators, Art Manager and Production Manager from project inception to completion and will play a major role in establishing and maintaining the quality of animation.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Create animations as per the requirement of the project
  • Ability to adapt art style to match that of game being produced
  • Work closely with the Art Manager, Lead Artists and Senior Animators to develop animation assets that fulfill the requirements of the project's game design and visual design-as documented by Specifications, Style Guides and appropriate reference material
  • Understand the requirements and constraints of game design, engine, and platform
  • Work closely with character designer in implementation of animations and characters
  • Maintain a high level of animation quality while working within design constraints and balancing performance issues
  • Perform research and reference gathering to acquire the necessary knowledge to perform assigned animation task
  • Work in a timely manner to achieve goals and deadlines
  • Communicate, written and/or oral, the status of the assigned task on request

KNOWLEDGE 
  • Thorough understanding of animation fundamentals for human and non human characters
  • Thorough understanding of 3D character art pipeline - from concept to modeling, rigging and animation
  • Passionate about creating high quality characters and animations
  •  Good understanding of full development cycles for games

REQUIREMENTS
  • Comprehensive skills in 3D model rigging and skinning both simple and complex
  • Solid experience in character and creature movement and behavior
  • Use 3D animation packages such as Maya, 3D Studio Max, and/or proprietary software to animate 3D characters and environmental objects
  •  Exhibit a strong understanding of the fundamental principles of animation
  •  Thorough understanding of 3D character art pipeline - from concept to modeling, rigging and animation
  • Effective communication skills (written and oral)
  • Education B.F.A. or equivalent degree

PLUSES
  • Experience with Motion Builder
  • Good knowledge of different video game genres and animated movies.
  • Strong animation and/or traditional art background
  • Storyboarding skills
  • Creative passion for Games

PREFERRED
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a character animator for games
  • Minimum 3 years experience working with Autodesk 3D Studio Maya and Max
